HOST: ftp.rgraphics.com

USER: revere

PASS: revere

Due to security concerns, our general ftp account uses an incoming/outgoing folder system to prevent unauthorized transfer of files between sources and destinations other than Revere Graphics. When uploading, direct files to the incoming folder. Files for download will be found in the outgoing folder.

Users who would prefer a private account with unique password and full control of file upload, download, and deletion, please contact Revere Graphics via email, or call 503-239-6098 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Once you have uploaded files, please fax a copy of the order form, or prepare the same electronically and email to revere@rgraphics.com

To expedite the output process, please reference the name of the uploaded file on the work order. And please, uploaded files labeled "To Revere" do us little good. We can assume files uploaded to us are intended for us. We need to know who you are, and better still, the project name of the files uploaded.

Macintosh users please note: Dual-fork (data/resource) Macintosh files are not transmitted intact over FTP. The resource fork is dropped and the data fork is the only portion to reach the destination. Mac fonts other than .dfont and .otf (OpenType) store their vital information in the resource fork. Without some form of preservation within an archive, fonts are one example of files that will arrive as zero K, and therefore, unusable.

For this reason we recommend the use of zip or stuffit compression. Not only for the reasons above, and beyond the obvious benefit of improved transmission speed, data transfer over the internet is not 100% reliable in every case. By archiving with zip or stuffit, the data is given an internal checksum that will be verified upon expanding. This gives both sender and recipient assurance that your files arrive in the same state as when sent. Note: this use of archiving is not necessary for PDF. The format uses compression and has its own internal checksum that is verified upon viewing.

For Windows users who do not have ftp client software, you may access our site using the standard Windows File Explorer (open 'My Computer'). In the address bar, enter "ftp://ftp.rgraphics.com" When prompted, enter 'revere' (all lower case) for both the user name and the password. Any standard ftp client software may be used as well, we recommend FileZilla, open source and free to download. Use ftp.rgraphics.com as the host, revere as the user name and the password (both lower case).

Unfortuantely, at this time it is not possible to transfer files by a similar method using Macintosh OSX. The finder, by default, considers all servers attached via ftp as read-only. This is not a flaw in our system, platforms, or software used to host our ftp server. It is a design flaw of the Mac Finder. Users who would like to transfer files with the ease of Windows users need to contact Apple, and voice their complaint. In the meantime, Mac users will need an ftp client. There are numerous options: Fetch, Cyberduck, RBrowser, to name a few. For those and more, query your favorite search engine for "Mac ftp client."
